How to Reduce PDF File Size

Shrink a PDF when it's too big for an email attachment or an upload limit. Files are never uploaded — everything runs locally in your browser.

Steps

  1. Click Choose a PDF and upload the file to compress.
  2. Pick a quality level:
    • Strong (screen) — smallest file, lowest sharpness.
    • Balanced (recommended) — a good trade-off between size and quality.
    • Light (print) — sharpest, but saves the least.
  3. Press Compress & download. You'll get the smaller PDF, plus the original → result size and the % saved.

How it works & caveats

  • This tool re-renders each page as an image and re-encodes it as JPEG, then rebuilds the PDF.
  • That means it helps most with scanned or photo-heavy PDFs.
  • Text-based PDFs may barely shrink, and after compression the text is no longer selectable or searchable (it becomes an image). Keep the original if searchable text matters.

All processing happens inside your browser — the PDF is never sent to a server.
