How to reduce audio file size
Make an audio file smaller for sharing, voice notes, or game sound effects — in your browser, no upload.
Steps
- Choose an audio file.
- Adjust the settings:
- Convert to mono — halves the data versus stereo.
- Sample rate — lower rates (e.g. 16000 Hz) cut size further; great for speech, less ideal for music.
- Reduce size & download. The original and resulting sizes are shown so you can compare.
The output is a WAV at the chosen sample rate. For images instead, see the Image Compressor.
