How to shorten a URL

Spellkit's URL Shortener turns long, ugly links into short, clean URLs — and can attach a custom Open Graph (OG) preview card so the link looks great when shared on social media.

Steps

  1. Paste your long URL. Type or paste the link into the Long URL field. You can omit https:// — we add it automatically.
  2. (Optional) Add a custom preview. Click Custom preview card & slug to expand the advanced options:
    • Preview title and Preview description appear on the social card.
    • Custom slug lets you choose the ending of the short link (e.g. /r/my-launch). Slugs are 3–32 letters or numbers.
  3. Shorten. Press Shorten. Your short link appears — click the copy button to grab it.

How the preview card works

When you set a title or description, sharing the short link on platforms like Twitter/X, Slack, or KakaoTalk shows a branded preview card with a generated image. Without a custom preview, the link is a fast, plain redirect.

Privacy & notes

  • Short links are stored so they keep redirecting. Don't put secrets in the URL.
  • Custom slugs are first-come, first-served.
